Course Description

This is a lower intermediate level English class in which you will build upon the listening, speaking, reading, writing, and grammar skills introduced in ESL Low and High Beginning. In this class, you will refine these skills so that you can participate in routine and sometimes challenging conversations about social, school, and work topics.  You may practice skills such as:

  • giving personal information
  • making polite requests
  • discussing housing
  • explaining recipes and food
  • making complaints
  • describing holidays

You will also learn different strategies to improve your reading comprehension, develop grammar skills, understand simple conversations, and write at the paragraph level.

 

Notes

Students will be taught by a master teacher, and may also be taught by student teachers.

Prerequisites

Completion of ENGL X 406.10, ESL Low Beginning; ENGL X406.13, ESL HIgh Beginning; or consent of instructor or program coordinator.
