Course Description

Improving Students’ Analytical Writing (ISAW) is the California Writing Project’s nationally recognized program that provides teachers with a professional community focused on empowering all students to write academically, analytically, and engagingly. This series comprises hands-on and collaborative workshops that will introduce strategies designed to be used with a wide variance of student demographics in order to address the disjunction between the critical reading and academic writing skills of secondary students, and the demands of postsecondary education. All strategies will correlate with the Common Core State Standards, and will coordinate with the Expository Reading and Writing Course that is currently in high schools and middle schools.
