Course Description

The final course in the 4-course biosecurity certificate program, this course will focus on identifying and assessing evolving technologies and their role as both threat and solution to biosecurity issues. The course will also discuss existing regulations and guidelines in the US versus internationally, how technology evolves faster than regulations, and the challenges of balancing regulation with scientific progress. A final course project must be successfully completed to receive the certificate.

  • Describe how evolving technology are used to implement and enhance biosecurity.
  • Describe various regulations for biosecurity, how technology are evolving faster than legislation, and the challenges of balancing regulation with scientific progress.
