Course Description

The rules of evidence govern all criminal and civil matters and determine what testimony, facts, information, documents, and actual pieces of evidence are admissible in court. This course covers:

  • Provides a basic understanding of the rules of evidence and their practical use and application in legal proceedings.
  • Relevancy
  • Hearsay and exceptions
  • Expert and lay opinions
  • Evidentiary rules pertaining to crime scene investigations and forensics including gathering, processing, and preserving evidence
  • Chain of custody
  • Presentation of forensic evidence at trial
