Course Description

A comprehensive look at the background and skills an educational therapist needs to assess and evaluate clients. An educational therapy model of assessment is discussed, including how it differs from the assumptions, goals and techniques of other models. Criteria for selecting the most appropriate instruments are described, and emphasis is placed on the analysis and synthesis of information from other professionals, parents, teachers, observations, rating scales, student work, curriculum, performance-based instruments, as well as standardized achievement tests. You will be required to have access to assessment materials in this course.
