Course Description

This class is designed to help the student prepare to pass the State Court Interpreter Exam. Students will review all 3 modes of interpretation, sharpen their interpreting, sight translation skills and expand their knowledge of the legal glossary. This class will include intense practices in the lab in order to build up speed, memorization, note taking, and mind agility skills. This class is also offered to any student who has completed a certificate program at another institution and is interested in taking a refresher course or receive deeper learning in preparation to take the State Court Interpreter Exam.

Learner Outcomes

  • Refresher on consecutive, simultaneous and sight interpretation to successfully pass the California Certified Court Interpreter Exam.
  • Students will be encouraged to successfully complete the mock examinations.
  • Every lecture includes practice suitable for the interpreting exam.
  • Detailed information will be taught about the oral and written exam.
