ENGL 815.A - ESL ITA Preparation: Oral Skills Development

Course Description

Develop your oral skills for the purposes of taking the SPEAK test, an institutional speaking assessment taken by many international students at UCR, and for delivering instruction in English. Specifically, you will develop language competencies in spoken English – functional, sociolinguistic, discourse, linguistic - for the purposes of performing language functions necessary for daily activates and academic life. Additionally, you will develop test-taking strategies for the SPEAK test. At the end of your course, you will make an academic presentation to peers, and will be prepared to take the SPEAK test.
