Course Description

Are you new to design? Get a solid footing in the fundamentals of design production in this new creative workshop.This five-week workshop is designed for individuals who want to create visual and innovative communication solutions using graphic elements. This workshop gives you the foundation you need to master the basics, and sets you up to succeed with more advanced training. Workshop topics and hands-on activities focus on:

  • fundamental design production processes
  • the role of the professional visual communicator
  • design unification of diverse elements
  • color theory
  • typography

The workshop also offers a comprehensive introduction to the primary Adobe Creative Software Suite. Learn Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, and Acrobat from seasoned professionals. You will also learn how basic design concepts and software interface to create an effective and efficient design environment. Production will include graphic collaterals focused on the web and print media. A capstone project displaying a comprehensive layout and design project is required upon completion.

Delivered in a hybrid format, this workshop combines in-class instruction and online learning modules with three face-to-face Saturday meetings.

 

 

Prerequisites

Students should have a working knowledge of the PC or MAC computer platforms in terms of file management, folder creation, and general platform navigation.
