Course Description

Through lecture, group activities, discussion, and fieldwork experiences, you will explore what it means to share leadership with others in the school community. Learn strategies for leveraging human, social, and decisional capital to achieve the vision and goals of the school. You will learn:

  • how collaboration works
  • what it takes to develop a high functioning team
  • using emotional intelligence
  • the importance of communication
  • the value of community engagement
  • to build staff capacity
  • the power of teacher leadership

Topics are aligned to the California Performance Expectations for Administrators and the Model Code of Ethics for Educators.

Prerequisites

Admission to Riverside County Office of Education’s Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program.

Meet at least one of the following:

  • Hold a valid California clear or life teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching;
  • A valid California clear or life Designated Subjects Teaching Credential, provided the holder also possesses a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally-accredited college or university;
  • A valid clear or life California Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Teacher Librarian Services Credential, Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential, Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential, or a School Nurse Services Credential, requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation including filed practice or the equivalent.
