EDUC X486 - Regulatory Leadership for School Administrators
Course Description
Through lecture, group activities, discussion, and fieldwork experiences, you will explore and learn to understand the federal, state, and local requirements and regulations that govern the operation of schools in California. Discuss:
- teacher evaluation
- regulations related to student and staff discipline
- mandated reporting
- equity
- labor-management relations
- bargaining agreements
- school finance and how funds are used to achieve your school's mission and vision
Topics are aligned to the California Performance Expectations for Administrators and the Model Code of Ethics for Educators.
Prerequisites
Admission to Riverside County Office of Education’s Preliminary Administrative Services Credential Program.
Meet at least one of the following:
- Hold a valid California clear or life teaching credential requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation, including student teaching;
- A valid California clear or life Designated Subjects Teaching Credential, provided the holder also possesses a bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally-accredited college or university;
- A valid clear or life California Pupil Personnel Services Credential, Teacher Librarian Services Credential, Speech-Language Pathology Services Credential, Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential, or a School Nurse Services Credential, requiring a bachelor’s degree and a program of professional preparation including filed practice or the equivalent.
