Course Description

This series continues the examination of the best of “art-house” cinema--films that stray far from any conventional or traditional Hollywood sense of filmmaking. Usually helmed by an “auteur” director, art films are particularly focused on exposing audiences’ raw emotions, and urging them toward poignant psychological examinations that can be unsettling-- and even shocking. “Art-House” films are not designed for mass appeal, and are made primarily for aesthetic reasons rather than commercial profit, often containing highly controversial and symbolic content. These are films that disturb and enlighten--and are the ones that will stay with you forever.
