Course Description

From “All the news that’s fit to print” to “fake news,” humanity has witnessed a revolution in the way we experience reality. Attention spans have shortened and Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram have re-imagined “connectedness,” privacy, intimacy, and self-worth. This class will take a look at six American films that chronicle the evolution of media from the newspapers of William Randolph Hearst to the reality television of the Kardashians to the social media that has us surfing with keyboards instead of surfboards.
