Course Description

This course on South Asian religions is offered in three stand-alone parts over two quarters. For each religion, a two-hour introductory lecture and overview covers the beliefs, rituals, and cultural practices of the adherents. Also discussed are First Amendment issues, teaching about religion, and religious practice in schools. Support readings will be included. The personal experience is done through a field trip with your instructor to one of the designated faith’s worship centers.
