Course Description

Context is everything when defining the idea of “change” as it appears throughout the history of art. Scientific breakthroughs during the Renaissance; mechanical devices of the 18th century; the invention of the camera and photograph; and the industrial revolution changed the way art was made, and influenced the artists that created the historically significant works of their time. This lecture series, organized and presented by local artist/painter Mark Johnson, will use slide presentations and discussions to show how the idea of “change” has been manifested throughout the history—from the Renaissance to Popular Art.
