Course Description

Review research and resources of Social Emotional Learning (SEL), and the direct relationship to academic achievement for gifted students in grades Pre-K-Grade 12. The basis of this course will utilize the Pre-K to Grade 12 Gifted Programming Standards and the Collaborative for Academic Social and Emotional Learning (CASEL) Social Emotional Competencies, as well as the SEL integrated skills of Identity and Agency, Emotional Regulation, Cognitive Regulation, Social Skills, and Public Spirit.  Discussions include:

  • the vital role of positive relationships
  • emotional connections in the learning process of gifted students
