Course Description

Designed to introduce you to the fundamentals of using Tableau Desktop, in the context of business and data analytics. The course is focused on project-based learning and covers all of the skills identified in the Tableau Desktop Specialist certification, as well as roughly 80% of those listed in the Tableau Desktop Certified Associate certification. More specifically, you will explore the role and application of data visualization in the data analysis process using Tableau. While incorporating visual design best practices to better communicate insights to the intended audience, such as business stakeholders, you will create and design:

  • static tables
  • dynamic tables
  • data visualizations
  • dashboards
  • Tableau stories

You will also connect multiple external data sources (e.g., Text Files, Excel, SQL databases) to Tableau and optimize large data to efficiently wrangle and analyze real-industry data.

Learner Outcomes

  • Identify the value and structure of Tableau Software ,as it applies to data visualization in the industry of business and data analytics.
  • Build interactive tables by connecting, preparing, and customizing data in Tableau.
  • Create data visualizations, dashboards, and Tableau Stories, to communicate analytic insights to the intended audience.
  • Apply Tableau performance optimization to improve the speed of working with large data.
