Course Description

In this course students will learn to convert the words into the target language after the speakers delivers one or two sentences. Consecutive interpretation will be implemented as a pedagogical tool to enhance students’ acquisition of interpretation skills. Students will develop advanced consecutive interpretation skills through practice. Emphasis in this course will be placed on cultural knowledge, understanding of the nuances of the language, sharp memory, excellent speaking, and keen hearing skills. Emphasis will be placed on visual contact with the speaker and note-taking.

Learner Outcomes

  • Students will learn how to focus on the message and how to use the right words in the target language.
  • Memory enhancement, concentration and listening skills will be introduced and practiced by students throughout the course.
  • Students will learn and apply public speaking techniques for voice modulation, poise, and stage fright management.
  • Students will be introduced to proper note-taking techniques.
  • Students will acquire specialized bilingual terminology.
