Course Description

This survey course focuses on the major components and issues of gifted and talented education. Current research provides insights into the unique needs of gifted and talented students. Topics to be addressed are: current state legislation, identification of specific characteristics of gifted students, teacher selection, four components of differentiated instruction, program standards and competencies, program assessment/evaluation, and parent involvement.
