Course Description

Exploration of the intellectual and social-emotional development of gifted students. Through case studies and within the historical context of changing views of intelligence and giftedness, this course considers the impact of learning differences, culture and language, social economics, and other exceptionalities in the development and recognition of giftedness. Particular attention is given to underachievement in gifted students, giftedness in early childhood and adolescence, gifted girls, and the relationship between creativity and giftedness.
