SPN 851.1 - California Court Interpreter Written Exam Preparation

Course Description

Take the test! Acquire a language literacy overview of Spanish and English grammatical structures, legal terminology, and general Spanish and English vocabulary in preparation for the written exam. Preparation will benefit those who possess a certificate, have experience in professional interpretation and translation, or need improvement in written Spanish skills (including reading ability). Course activities include:

• Practice exams
• Review test-taking techniques
• In-class reading analysis

Emphasis is on the translation portion of the oral exam.

Recommendations

Students must have successfully completed the UCR Extension’s Professional Certificate in Interpretation and Translation English/Spanish or receive approval from department.
