Covers curriculum theory and instructional practices and processes as they relate to the secondary mathematics classroom. Subjects discussed include:

  • purpose and mission of mathematics education
  • knowing mathematics versus knowing mathematics for teaching
  • differentiation strategies for diverse learners in the teaching of mathematics
  • investigating various strategies of instruction
  • instructional technology
  • mathematics assessments, rubrics, and grading
  • designing engaging lessons aligned with the Common Core standards

You will also cover mathematics and California standards for the teaching profession.
