Introduces the variations in development of children with special needs (birth through age 8), identifies interventions based upon the developmental continuum, and explores the resulting impact on family members and functioning. Includes an overview of:

  • historical and societal influences
  • laws relating to children with special needs
  • family adjustment and dynamics
  • the identification and referral process
